Traffic Integration
Product Overview
Crispin has collaborated with many traffic providers to offer robust integration with master control. There are a variety of features and options when integrating Crispin with traffic.

Flat File
The exchange of flat files, whether from a traffic provider or even an excel file with fixed-fields.

BXF
Broadcast eXchange Format messages from traffic for a closer integration between traffic and master control requiring fewer operator tasks.

Live Log Updates
When supported by the traffic provider, this allows traffic and master control in a real-time integration.
Flat File Traffic Integration Features
- Mapper / Auto-Mapper is a file format translation software that converts the traffic file into a Crispin playlist. It also connects to the Crispin AssetBase for purposes of writing traffic schedules to the database for comparing content needs versus what is available. Mapper can happen automatically and/or be manually initiated.
- Mapper Conversion Rules provide great flexibility in interpreting traffic files based on rule-based logic. This means that stations do not have to ask the traffic department to change or wait for a software update from Crispin. These rules can be updated easily at any time.
- AsRun / Recon provides reconciliation of traffic files to Crispin’s AsRun files by combining the data into a text file that can be used to compare what events were expected to play and when, to what events actually aired and when.
- Record List are automatically imported from traffic to specify clip information, metadata and timing for a single or recurring recording. This list will specify the clip information, metadata, and timing for the recording. Operators can also manually initiate, view and edit record orders and record schedules including editing source, house number, comment, title, dates, time and expiration dates for the recording.
- Discrepancy reports are generated based on traffic schedules, the content of the media in the database and the content of the video servers. Traffic schedules are written to the database in their entirety and the database will perform a comparison and generate a report.
- Dub lists are created in traffic and this information can be viewed in Crispin’s Dubber (ingest) application. Operators can simply launch Dubber and the dub list will be displayed within the GUI, select the dub item, material ID auto-populates and operator has the ability to then dub the material, all within the same GUI.
- Purge lists are lists that can be created in traffic or in engineering to remove multiple assets from the system. This process is simple, a list of material IDs that are no longer needed is created and then processed through Crispin’s mapper program, with specific purge list rules. This will create a list for master control to verify and confirm deletion or will be auto-deleted based on customer preferences.
BXF Features
- Overview: BXF offers an enhanced integration between traffic and master control that includes all features offered in a flat file system. These features are sent through BXF messaging instead of through a flat file that requires some manual intervention.
- Media Updates with BXF – dub lists and purge lists originate in traffic and are executed in master control. These messages are sent automatically via BXF messaging and content status from master control is sent back to traffic. (dub/purge confirmed). Crispin will also send metadata updates to traffic based on the edits that have been completed: SOM/EOM/Duration/Expiration/etc.
- AsRun / Recon with BXF provides real-time reporting back to traffic and billing for reconciliation, following the completion of each event.
BXF with Live Log
- BXF with Live Log system updates takes BXF one step further by providing real time exchange of information between traffic and master control. This feature is only available if supported by the traffic solution.
- Live Log system updates allow traffic and master control to interact with their automation system in new and highly flexible ways.
- Live Log Editor – a newly developed functionality which allows real-time, same-day edits to a log that is currently running, to be reflected in the master control playlist. Certain response settings are configurable on the Crispin side, based on customer preferences.
- Add, remove or swap content (specific requirements based on traffic provider)
