Pinnacle Systems Offers Complete Spot and Program Playback -Bundles
Crispin Software with Mediastream 300 Server
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- Pinnacle Systems, Inc. announced an
agreement with Crispin Corporation to include its play-to-air
software with Pinnacle Systems' MediaStream video servers. The Crispin
software will be bundled with every MediaStream 300* server and
offered as an option on MediaStream 700 and 1600 servers. This
combination offers a complete, integrated solution for spot and
program playback that helps broadcasters get on-air fast with dub and
play-to-air capabilities at a fraction of the cost of automation
packages.
The integration of Pinnacle Systems' MediaStream servers and the Crispin
control software gives broadcasters the ability to tailor a solution
with redundancy and fibre channel networking for
no-single-point-of-failure operation. In addition, Pinnacle Systems
backs the entire package with 24x7 mission-critical broadcast support.

The basic Crispin application lets users record, trim and
play clips during the dub process, using Sony BVW protocol tape
machine control and server encoder control. The software also can
control up to two output channels on the server with back-to-back play
from playlists. Inaddition to frame-accurate play-to-air control, Crispin's
easy-to-use GUI and drag-and-drop editing enables quick changes of
on-air playlists.
Optional features include traffic file translation; creation of dub
and kill lists for easy content management; "as-run" file
generation for use with traffic systems for reconciliation purposes;
12 GPI inputs and outputs; up to four playlist controls; the ability
to add an additional PC for separate dub station control; and
mirroring, which copies content between two MediaStream servers for
extra reliability.
