Jefferson-Pilot Communications Stations sign with CRISPIN at NAB for Total Automation

Raleigh, NC - April 19, 2000 - Jefferson-Pilot Communication's WBTV (CBS), Charlotte, and WWBT-TV (NBC), Richmond, have selected Crispin for total automation of their master control and programming playback operations.

Henry Boze, VP Engineering/TV, Jefferson-Pilot Communications made the decision at NAB saying "The highly customizable configuration and look that the Crispin Rapid X 2000 automation system provided, along with the other Crispin media products, gave the Jefferson-Pilot group stations a cost effective and scalable automation solution. We were so pleased with the flexibility and impressive power of their products, as well as their knowledgeable staff, that we opted to purchase the Crispin package first, before any other hardware was obtained."

Both stations will be using CRISPIN's new total automation system, SYSTEM 2000, to control two Sony MAV-70 file servers per station in a mirrored configuration, GVG Master 2100 MCR Switcher, and other equipment such as VTRs, CGs, etc.   Each station will be using Crispin's products, including Mediabase2000, TurboBrowser, ClipCop for asset management, RapidPlayX2000 for playback, Record Scheduler for program feed record, Dubber for dubbing commercials, Segmentor for preparing programming, and Mapper to translate from the VCI traffic software.

"We feel Crispin offers an excellent solution for our current needs and future growth" commented Terry Phillips,  Broadcast Operations Manager, WBTV- Charlotte.     "The RapidPlayX 2000 package, along with Crispin's Dubber, Segmentor, and other products, provide a comprehensive way of managing our media assets. Flexibility in user configuration is a great feature and allows us to create a 'look and feel' best suited for our operation."

Crispin's Total Automation System 2000 is based on a device server with driver-based architecture and a web browseable facility database. The system runs on Windows NT, the database engine is SQL Server 7, and the WEB server is IIS 4. The solution is flexible and scalable.
