When it comes to operating a community or government
television station, we know that you have more
productive things to do than managing and preparing
your contributor’s media for air. Crispin has
designed a media workflow and master control playback
application suite called Community that keeps
the content and playback moving (instead of keeping
you moving!) As an integrated workflow package,
Community makes it easy for producers or contributors
to easily prep and submit the content. It also
allows you to easily prepare schedules and we’ll
even fill in the gaps with evergreen material
so that you never have to worry about dead airtime.
Community is based on the same great Crispin technology
that performs master control automation and asset
management tasks at hundreds of broadcasters around
the country.

Affordable - Scalable - Easy-to-Use
Community is a permissions-based suite of applications
(AssetBase module, Transfer Manager and Session
Server) built around a subset of Crispin's premier
broadcast automation system. Additionally, the
system provides a browser-enabled asset management
solution that offers extensive media management
capabilities with a powerful relational database.
Together, these tools help facilities manage producers
and their holdings, schedule the use of limited
resources and facilitate the production of a daily
schedule for playout. This feature set enables
PEG facilities to more effectively operate their
facility. In some instances, 100 or more producers
are ingesting material monthly into a facility
for play-to-air, Community helps manage this process
effectively.
Commuity Key
Features
• Provides easy-to-use applications to control
ingest, editing, production of a daily schedule
and play-out of programs and interstitials
• Administrators can make certain assets available
through a simple resource scheduling wizard. This
tool provides an efficient means to track usage
of equipment resources (Microphones, cameras,
tripods and lights).
• Playlists may be manually generated from daily
schedule templates and auto-loaded by RapidPlayX
for unattended operations
Community includes the following premier broadcast
automation components:

Reliable and extremely flexible, RapidPlayX is
the front end for Crispin’s scalable full automation
on-air playback solution. This powerful, yet easy
to use software application allows complete control
of multiple play-to-air channels and record schedules

A central component of Crispin’s full automation
solution, DeviceServer interfaces to multiple
broadcast devices and may be implemented as a
single unit for small systems or in multiples
for redundancy, location, or scale. Because of
its unique device control architecture, changes
or additions of devices are handled readily without
aff ecting the primary application, protecting
the integrity of the automation system.

RESOURCE
MANAGMENT
With Community, administrators can set up unique
accounts that enable producer access to the system.
In some instances 100 or more producers are ingesting
material monthly into a facility for play to-air,
Community helps manage this process eff ectively.
In addition to an all-encompassing view of system
information, administrators may grant scheduling
access to editing and equipment resources (Microphones,
cameras, tripods and lights).
INGEST
Administrators or producers can reserve blocks
of time for the use of ingest resources. Through
the use of Transfer Manager, Community’s ingest
application, producers can quickly ingest their
material into the Community system. In order to
maintain valuable space on the play-to-air video
server, Community transfers the material from
the ingest station to archive. With Community,
producers may ingest their material from multiple
input devices such as VTRs, VCRs, DVD players
and video capture (cameras).
EDITING
Administrators or producers can reserve blocks
of time to use editing resources. Producer’s log-in,
at their scheduled time, to edit their own holdings
with Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere editing software.
Community manages the transfer of producer holdings
from archive to the edit station on behalf of
the producer.
SCHEDULING
MANAGMENT
Operators manage the production of daily schedules
for playout of programs and interstitials through
the use of programming templates, which enable
an administrator to quickly create a schedule
and ultimately a playlist. Playlists are generated
from daily schedules and loaded into Crispin’s
automation system for playout. The automation
system can auto-load playlists for unattended
operations. Any number of separate channels can
be managed.

“The scheduling component works well, it makes
sense. I’ve had experience learning and working
with numerous software programs and I feel that
Crispin’s approach was easy to learn.”
